BRCA has been detectable by genetic testing. It affects both men and women, particularly Jewish adults, and has been linked to breast, ovarian and pancreatic cancers. After her mother and her sister died of breast cancer, and she herself discovered a tumor, Lisa Cohen set up an organization called BRACHA to help those who have this gene mutation and to educate the public.
