Leaving Kfar Saba on the Egged bus #572, which departs once an hour, I arrived at the Egged bus station in Tel Aviv one hour early to connect with my Eilat bus.

Armed with baggage to take back to Eilat, I found it very inconvenient to shlep to restrooms and restaurants. I had a thought that maybe somewhere (though I’d never seen a sign) was a baggage hold and asked the information clerk whether there was such a facility. Yes, she said, and pointed towards a sandwich kiosk. Thinking I had misunderstood her or that she was mistaken, I approached the kiosk uncertainly – and feeling very embarrassed, I politely asked the man at the counter whether this was in fact the right place for storage. He replied in the affirmative and called the proprietor to help move the food counters to take my luggage to the back, presumably the kitchen. I only relaxed when, after paying 10 shekels, I was issued with a receipt for which I had to sign.

Happily freed from all the inconvenience of baggage, I spent the next hour happily and leisurely exploring interesting shops and having a cup of coffee.

So don’t forget to look for the food kiosk opposite the information counter! Who would ever have thought to discover this unique service?

The moral of the story is – however insignicant your personal dilemma, don’t be hesitant to ask. One never knows the possibilities that might exist!
