The Be'chol Lashon Media Awards were presented on May 14, 2011, honoring excellence in coverage of Jewish ethnic diversity in print, film and new media from the previous year. In its fourth year, the contest drew entries from around the world, including explorations of African, African-American, Latino, Asian and Arab Jewry. Amongst the winners, who each received $1,000, was Dr. Carl Hoffman with his article "Letter from the Philippines" which was printed in Moment Magazine, November/December 2010. As one of the judges stated, “Dr. Hoffman is very respectful and thorough in his examination of the Philippines, its history and its people. From beginning to end, a very captivating story, told in an excellent manner.”

Carl Hoffman writes regularly for the ESRA Magazine and is a member of the magazine’s editorial board. Congratulations Carl – you are indeed a wonderful writer and we are honored that you write for us.
