Recently ESRA’s Rehovot Branch held it Annual General Meeting and it was a very special evening.

It was special in part, because of the beautiful roof garden which was nurtured br Mervyn and Joyce Lasovsky, our hosts for the evening.

The masses of flowers framed the speakers of the evening including David Schwartz, the Rehovot treasurer who spoke about the finances of the group and his wife Gila, who sells embroidered products which are hand made by Ethiopian women in Rehovot. Annice Grinberg recounted many of the social and cultural activities which ESRA members had enjoyed this year. Seth Hoffman reported on the Medical Forum which has been running for more than six years, with a scheduled lecture in August on Cardiology.

Lucille Edelman reported on her active involvement, together with the help of the Rehovot chapter, and also their finding suitable premises for the Moadonit, the after-school activity center for young children at risk. This is one of the community projects which the Rehovot Branch supports. Joyce Lasovsky spoke about Meshi, a program for mentally ill adults, to which this ESRA Branch contributes and visits.

The ESRA Rehovot Board members for the coming year were confirmed: Sylvia Arvatz, Roy Caplan, Phyllis Collins, Benny Edelman, Lucille Edelman, Evelynne Goldman, Annice Grinberg, Dorthy Hertzman, Seth Hoffman, Joyce Lasovsky, Sharon Levinsohn, Susn Lurie, Elisheva Schreiber, David Schwartz and Gila Schwartz.

The Business Reports of the meeting were duly recognized and then Dr. Barbara Blum presented an entertaining “The Life and Music of Jan Peerce”.

All of these elements of Rehovot’s AGM were interesting and impressive, but the congratulations are due because these members are ending their 10th year of ESRA Rehovot. We are all very proud of this group and wish them continued success, enjoyment and fulfillment for many more years to come.
