The Esra/Nofei Hasharon knitting circle, started by Cecilia Kriss, is certainly keeping her memory alive. Last week I joined three members of the group together with Anat, the cultural coordinator of Nofei Hasharon, to visit three kindergartens in the Neot Ganim area of Netanya.

The group had knitted over 40 sweaters during the summer and, just as exciting, received a shipment of 35 handmade sweaters from a group in America which had heard of the Circle.

The morning was filled with excitement – the joy of the children, the joy of the ladies who saw where their hard work was going, the Chanukkah songs the children sang us and the enthusiasm of the teachers gave us all a day to remember.

This letter from the American group and these few pictures say it all. The spirit of Cecilia lives on!

Dear Cecilia,

It is with great pleasure I send you these sweaters, hand knit by members of Congregation Beth David, along with their family and friends. Sharlot Sunshire let us know, during her visit here that our crafting skills could be put to good use for children in your community. Throughout the summer, many of us knitted these sweaters with love for the children your group helps. Please let the children know they are knit with love and hugs for them, from ladies half way across the world.

We would love to hear any feedback of our efforts. I can be contacted through email at: LisaDCampolmi@juno.com

I hope they are received with as much enthusiasm as they were knit.

Lisa Campolmi, Adult Education Chair, Congrgation Beth David
