HydroChic is the brainchild of two creative people, Daniella Teutsch and Sara Wolf.  Both women love going to the beach but had difficulty finding modest swimwear that would protect them from damaging sun rays. They decided to take matters into their own hands and create a company in Israel that would fill the gap.

The two met while working for Imaga Hats, a hat company based in Jerusalem whose products are sold around the world. Sara, who lived in New York, was buying  Imaga hats from Israel wholesale and selling them retail. Daniella found Imaga in her quest for a hat that would fit her properly. She started working for the company and became the representative with whom Sara dealt.

Both women had formerly been teachers and were looking to start a business in Israel. Sara, mother of four and Daniella, mother of three, put their heads together to design feminine, fashionable aquatic wear, similar to aerobic wear, while providing coverage in just the right places. They wanted the garments which they designed to feel comfortable and have a great fit. After much researching and leg work, HydroChic came into being in the late spring of 2007.

At first, the product was marketed to Orthodox women only. The company's market has since grown to include the general female population, ranging in age from teenagers to senior citizens from all walks of life. The special fabrics used are breathable, quick-drying and offer maximum UV protection.

The garments can be worn not only for swimming, but for many indoor and outdoor sports and are sold as separates, accommodating all figure types. Besides standard sizes, they come in plus sizes, extra small, maternity and mastectomy fits. The tops are all fitted with bras. There are shorts of different lengths and skirts with attached pants, which make great resort wear. A typical outfit costs $150, which includes a top and swim/sports bra and either shorts or a skirt.

The garments, which are manufactured in Israel, are sold in the US, England and Australia. In Israel, they can be found at Kibbutz Lavi near Tiberias and in branches of Lilach stores in Modiin and Jerusalem. There are representatives in Raanana, Beit Shemesh and Efrat.  With so many coverage options to choose from, you can select whichever style suits your needs. Each piece is designed to be as flattering as possible and many come in vibrant summery colors.

Articles extolling the benefits and enjoyment of HydroChic garments have appeared in "Good Housekeeping", "the Jewish Press" and "Cooler". Among satisfied customers was one woman from Texas who wrote a letter saying that her HydroChic swim suit changed her life. It doesn’t ride up while she is on the water slide, makes her look like a surfer, and also allows her to be comfortable and attractive. Praise like this, coming from satisfied customers, is very gratifying to Sara and Daniella.
