Not long after my parents made aliyah in the late 1970s, they attended a concert in Kfar Saba by the late Shlomo Carlebach. After the performance, my father approached him and said, “Shlomoleh, your voice is so wonderful; it can bring the Mashiach (Messiah) to Israel.”

“Ahhh,” answered Shlomo, “but the Mashiach has already been here; he left because he couldn’t get a phone.”
