Rehovot’s annual general meeting on September 5 was held at the home of Joyce and Mervyn Lasovsky. Professor Arnold Rosin gave a most interesting and informative lecture on the subject of "The Edge of Aging “. Fifty-three Esra members and friends were present.  Opening remarks and a welcome to all were extended by Sylvia Arvatz, followed by a general report on our year's activities by Annice Grinberg. Appreciation was expressed to all those who had so willingly and ably arranged the various functions.

Lucille Edelman spoke about the "Moadonit", the after school enrichment program for young children "at risk" and our support thereof, which this year, included sponsoring a drama course.

Joyce Lasovsky reported on our work with MESHI, a government assisted organization that provides employment and counselling for the mentally ill. Sylvia Arvatz and Joyce visit their local center on a weekly basis and have succeeded in establishing helpful personal relationships. We assist with funding both the Moadonit and MESHI with certain added benefits as the opportunity arises.

Edith Dinar from Bat Yam presented the financial report.

We were particularly pleased to have with us Esra's chairwoman Debby Lieberman, who brought us her warm personal greetings and those of the Esra executive.

The names of the nominees for our local board were read out, and a call for further volunteers to serve thereon very gratifyingly resulted in seven members coming forward.

Seth Hoffman proposed a vote of thanks to Professor Rosin and our hosts. Refreshments were served and the Esra Rehovot branch optimistically commences the new year.
