REFLECTING on her decade as anchor for Esravision, Renee Singer concludes that the program has only half fulfilled its promise. There is a great potential for the monthly program geared to the needs and interests of the English speaking community, but it is a challenge to get sufficient quality material on a volunteer basis, she believes.

For years English speakers depended on the IBA (Israel Broadcasting Authority) but their limitations in time for focusing on available community services prevented sufficient coverage of these events.

Involved in Esravision, except for a three year break when she was in Chicago with husband, Maurice, Renee was happy to return to Esravision with a Renee Singer-Diana Lerner regular Guest of the Month slot, and when the position became available, to return as anchor and producer.

Her natural endowments include a way with words and people, which, along with her professional background, greatly enhance her performance as an interviewer of people in the news. To this she lends her personal sparkle and talent for getting her subjects to open up while at the same time veering them back to the topic when they go off on a tangent.

Renee worked for the Foreign Press Association for 11 years and at present is part of a team of professionals training business people to submit presentations in English.

Esravision programs report on community service activities, forthcoming events, features about health, fashion, leisure and consumer news as well as films about aspects of Israeli life.

Esravision is broadcast twice a week on Israel’s community television channel and every fortnight on METV, and its programs appear on You Tube.
