Special Interview ... a real treat

SPECIAL INTERVIEW

Reviewed by Barbara Lyons

For those of you who did not come to see the film Special Interview at the ESRA film club in Raanana, I can only say that you missed a real treat. Not only was it a film that made us laugh and cry, but it was edited in such a way that each scene held our attention and led to the next scene in a very lovely way.

Two young people with disabilities become star reporters in this uplifting documentary.

Efrat Dotan is 27 and has Down's syndrome. Matanel Bitton (20) has developmental disabilities. They both spent their days at SHALVA – The Association for Mentally and Physically Challenged Children in Israel - where they were taught skills enabling them to reach their maximum potential.

Nitzan Rozenberg, the writer and director of the film, told us he had interviewed many youngsters for the film, and Efrat and Matanel had been chosen. They are both so full of life and down to earth. Their sincerity and lack of inhibitions led them to ask some wonderful questions of the celebrities whom they interviewed. How they fly to America and try to interview President Obama makes this a very unique and enjoyable documentary film.
