honor, given by Laniado Hospital, which Edith, now 91, has served for 40 years. Edith, who began working there during the 1973 war period, was a driving force during the critical periods. Whenever the couple returned to their hometown in Florida they took the opportunity to raise funds for and give lectures about the hospital.

away recently. Born in England, she worked as a merchandiser in a London department store and then in a Jewish charity shop. At the age of 87 she started a nearly-new shop in aid of Beit Protea, and ran it until she was 92. She is deeply missed by family and friends.

her 100th birthday. A former teacher and active sportwoman, Ruth immigrated with her late husband to Zichron Yaakov in the 70s, where she lives today. She still lives a full life and enjoys music and many other activities.

He loved it, and told Victoria Habib that he will never forget Sderot. He often comes to Israel, where he also volunteers in Sarap-el. Ms. Habib, immigrated to Israel from Rome almost 10 years ago.

as a doctor in London where she practiced for nearly 30 years, training other doctors as well as running a contraception clinic. When her husband died she came to Israel to join her children. Today she is a volunteer doctor at the Terem contraception clinic where she sees, among others, many Eritrean patients, and is happy that her medical skills and knowledge are put to good use for some of the less fortunate in Israel.

Miriam tells Sofia's moving story of survival during the Nazi occupation of Yugoslavia, to her life after the war and eventually her Aliya to Israel in 1987. Today at 90 years old, with a very lucid mind, she lives in Netanya and is still enjoying life.
