Last month a group of Esra Kfar Saba committee members, Pnina Angel, Ziona Agulnik and Phyllis Bloch, had the pleasure of meeting with Dr.Bookie Chish to introduce Esra to him and discuss some of our pressing needs.

Dr. Chish has recently taken his post as deputy mayor as well as acting mayor after many years in service to the city. He now holds many portfolios on the city council: environment, culture and sport, and liaison to our twin cities, Columbus, Ohio and Delft, Holland.

He received a teaching degree from Wingate in physical education, he continued his studies in the United States where he received his B.A., MA and Doctorate in the administration of physical education. He returned to Israel and to Wingate where he has been a lecturer for the past 35 years. He is presently on leave to take up his duties in Kfar Saba.

Dr. Chish was most responsive to our need for an air conditioner for our shelter/office. We received the air conditioner within a month. Our request for a cleaner and better lit entrance was also completed at the same time.

At the close of the meeting, we presented Dr.Chish with one of our new Esra items, a puzzle of Ethiopian art. The photo illustrates how very pleased he was with the gift. We are especially pleased to see it framed on his office wall.

We were privileged to have Dr. Chish and his wife attend our recent fundraiser, "Pizazz for you". We appreciate his efforts and assistance and look forward to the continued relationship between Esra and our city, Kfar Saba.
