For the past thirteen years I have had the pleasure of working with dedicated and committed volunteers in the Befrienders’ program.  Due to many other responsibilities I have now handed over this project to Glenis Bertfield, ESRA's new coordinator. I wish her all the best and every success.

To all the befrienders, past and present, I take this opportunity to thank you for your support and commitment.

As there is a need for more men and women volunteers, Glenis has arranged training for a new group in April. If you would like to spend some quality time with someone lonely or housebound and put a smile on their faces, call Glenis at 054 773 4392.

And…..Hello Befrienders  from Glenis Bertfield

I would like to introduce myself as I have been invited to become the new coordinator for the Befrienders’ group.

Eighteen months ago together with my husband and mother we made aliyah from Manchester, and we are thoroughly enjoying being in Raanana. From the start ESRA has played a big part in our settling into a new way of life.

In England, apart from running my own business and qualifying as a reflexologist, I volunteered in many different aspects of the community. I worked closely with a home for children with learning difficulties.

I mentored teenage children for quite a number of years and served meals on wheels for the Jewish Blind Society.

I look forward to continuing Val’s good work. I would also like to congratulate her on thirteen years of running Befrienders so successfully.
