The rhythm of the drums together with flames dancing in the night sky as the dancer weaved her way through the audience was the dramatic setting at the Ne'urim beach for the end of year celebrations of the Kadima club for disabled young adults.

The evening brought together some thirty members of Kadima, volunteers, supporters and friends. Each of the members was greeted affectionately by Nurit Carmi, the club's coordinator, whose enthusiasm is boundless and her spirit contagious.

The evening was the finale for a year which has seen the club grow in numbers, diversify its activities and increase the number of volunteers and supporters.

What characterizes this club from others is the high level of involvement and motivation combined with friendship, warmth and caring. Much of this is generated by Nurit herself who has enlisted family, friends, neighbors and others in her desire to create a dynamic social center for the participants. Thanks to Esra's volunteers, including Hadassah Birnbaum, Kadima participants are now able to enjoy a once weekly social gathering which offers a program that motivates and entertains them so that they are not isolated at home and limited by the lack of transport or accessibility.

Here's looking forward to another year where the limits may be pushed further so we may offer greater opportunities for the members of Kadima to be socially active in our community.
