Eddie was born in Hull, and grew up there during the war years before moving to Leeds.

In 1981 at the request of the Israeli Embassy he traveled with his wife Gloria to Russia visiting Moscow and Leningrad to speak to refuseniks in their homes. He carried large quantities of prayer books, food and medicines to be distributed to the prisoners. He memorized the Russian alphabet so as to be able to travel on the metro.

In 1982 he made aliyah with his wife and his daughter, Rochelle, to be near their son Michael. Eddie worked for many years for Diesenhaus Travel in Tel Aviv before retiring. He lived 18 years in Raanana where he taught many people bridge and then formed the ESRA Bridge Club which he ran for 15 years. Eddie taught himself bridge and had a gift to set up a system to make bridge easy for beginners.

The Scotts later settled in Netanya mainly to look after Gloria’s 90 year old parents. Eddie volunteered for the AACI, first in the advertising section and then for many years in the library. Gloria and Eddie helped pack the ESRA magazines and afterwards distribute them in their area. They also enjoyed immensely helping the matric pupils once a week with their English at the Ort Leibowitz high school for a couple of years. Eddie started a fortnightly duplicate bridge game at Bet Israel synagogue, donating all the proceeds. This built up to large numbers of people enjoying a Thursday morning game. He also served as president of the synagogue for two years. They both joined the Attad group dancing once a week at old aged homes.

Eddie and Gloria celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2009 with a kiddush and party for family and friends. They were blessed with a wonderful family, all married and living in Israel with seven beautiful grandchildren.

Eddie leaves behind a sorrowing mother, brother and family in Leeds, UK and his wife and family of whom he was so proud. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him, and by ESRA and its many bridge players.
