GERALD SCHWARTZ recently passed away in Israel. Gerald was not an Israeli citizen but he was an unsung volunteer of the Esra Nearly New Shop. Gerald lived in Miami, Florida. He would come to Israel twice a year - Rosh Hashanah and Pesach - to be with his children. He would stay 5 to 6 weeks on each visit and work in the shop. He would work ceaselessly from 08:00 to 12:30 every day. He was a great and enthusiastic worker. In the afternoons he would play tennis. On the days that we prepared the Esra magazines for distribution, putting in the inserts and addressing each magazine, Gerald worked tirelessly. I used to time him and he always broke all records. He worked for Esra for over 10 years. He was a good friend and I will miss him. He was buried in Raanana.
