The Holocaust Survivor Cookbook is available from ESRA

At a recent Friday morning lecture in Raanana, ESRA hosted Joanne Caras from the United States. For the past four years Joanne has promoted The Holocaust Survivor Cookbook - a compendium of recipes and stories of survivors which she put together. She has singlehandedly raised almost half a million dollars for Jewish charities in Israel and abroad, donating $100,000 to a soup-kitchen in Jerusalem. She has appeared on television and national radio in the United States and Canada.
Her beautiful and moving cookbook of stories and recipes sells for NIS140. During the course of her talk, she explained that many organizations were selling the book at that price and NIS60 goes to the organization making the sale. An immediate decision was made to sell the cookbook and many in the audience placed an order. The ESRA office in Raanana will be the center for the distribution of the cookbook in the greater Tel Aviv area. Anyone wanting to order The Holocaust Survivor Cookbook should call ESRA at 09 748 2957. We hope that the first shipment of books will arrive in time for gifts for Pesach.
Our thanks to Pamela Peled for bringing Joanne to our attention. As you may remember, Pam wrote about Joanne in a recent ESRA magazine. We hope that on her next visit to Israel, Joanne will speak to a larger audience in the evening and update us on the progress of Cookbook No. 2.
