Collusion with Phone Companies

I have often wondered if there is some kind of collusion between advertisers and Bezeq, Hot and cell phone companies. Do these advertisers have shares in these phone companies? With my subscription to Yedioth Achronot from time to time I receive a brochure on the sale of new apartments and houses in the country. Of the 80 adverts in this current brochure only five, yes five, contractors have given prices. So, if you are interested what are you going to do? Enrich the phone company and make your own phone bill bigger. I have the same complaint regarding private advertisers whether for a flat to rent, or a car to sell. How many times have you phoned regarding something for sale, only to find that the price was way above your budget? So why waste your own time and that of others, and why not put the price of the item for sale or rental in the advert as well – after all, isn’t this going to be one of the most important items in the sale?

Teva Market Eden

Whenever I am in the area of Poleg or Netanya I visit the Eden Teva Market close to Ikea. The variety of their products, both organic and non-organic, is amazing – especially so if you are a taster like me (no comments please). However, their prices too are amazing, for example, I needed whole caraway seeds – at my local supermarket, 40gms for NIS 4.99; at Teva 60 gms for NIS 1.80.

Baking Soda

For those of you who have been looking for bicarbonate of soda in large quantities – I found same at Hezi Hinam in a hard plastic container with a resealable lid – 340gms for only NIS 7.99. I wonder why everything is still priced ending with 0.49 or 0.99 agorot when there are no coins worth less than 10 agorot.

Pri-Gat – Warning

We had been buying Pri-Gat diet concentrated fruit syrups for years. However, since Pri-Gat changed the shape of their product to a smaller container, (750 gm instead of 1 litre) and added a colorful plastic wrapping apart from upping the price, I noticed that after a few days the diluted drink had an unusual taste. On phoning Pri-Gat I was told the following:

1. The concentrated syrup now needs to be kept in the refrigerator after opening.

2. It is preferable to mix the syrup with mineral water, although on the label just “water” is written in English and in Hebrew “מצוננים” is added. According to my dictionary, this means “cool, fresh, cold”. All this IS written on the label, but how many of us recheck labels after using a particular product for many, many years, and most importantly:

3. The final diluted cold drink should be kept in the fridge and finished within a day or two!

4. Another factor to be noted from the label “Unsuitable for diabetics”.

Sun Spots and Lemons

I saw this in an article on Sun Spots and although I am still trying this out myself, I thought it would be of interest to many others as it is a natural remedy. The citric acid in lemons makes this fruit one of the strongest natural skin lightening remedies. After dabbing lemon juice on age spots twice a day for two months, dark spots should begin to fade.
