Jonathan Essakow appointed Honorary Consul of Portugal

Ms Irit Lillaian, Director of the European Department and the Portuguese Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Miguel De Almeida E Sousa presenting Jonathan Essakow with the protocols of his appointment as Honorary Consul of Portugal in Israel, signed by Shimon Peres and the Portuguese President.

Jonathan Essakow, managing director and owner of Coral Maritime Services Shipping Company operating from Haifa and Ashdod, has been awarded the status of Honorary Consul of Portugal in Israel. He is the son of Vic and Dolores.

The Essakow family, born in Krugersdorp, South Africa, made aliyah in 1976. Vic and Dolores together with their three children and eight grandchildren all live in Israel.

The ceremony took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem on July 12, 2012. Present were dignitaries including H.E. Mr. Miguel De Almeida E Sousa, Ambassador of Portugal to Israel, and, representing the Israeli Government, Ms Talya Lador-Fresher, Chief of Protocol; Chairman of the Nomination Committee of Honorary Consuls, Ms Irit Lillaian, Director of the European Department, and others.
