Master strokes . . . Four sunflowers gone to seed by Van Gogh
AN ENTHUSIASTIC 52 ESRA art lovers went to Tel Aviv’s Exhibition Grounds on March 7 to view the spectacular multimedia event, Van Gogh Alive Exhibition. It arrived in Israel from Australia in February, and so far over 300,000 people have visited it. A total of 3,000 pictures selected from amongst the painter’s most famous works are shown on massive HD screens, on the walls, on the ceiling, and even on the floor. The lifelike images span over 10 years of Van Gogh’s life, during which he suffered from depression and spent time both in his native Holland and the south of France. The vibrant colors for which Van Gogh is so well known assault your senses as you enter the hall, and the light and the sounds which accompany you as you walk around take you into the recesses of the master’s mind and leave you totally breathless. If you have a chance to see this amazing exhibition – it runs until the end of April – I would strongly recommend it, as it will certainly live in your mind forever.
