Sara came to live in Israel with her husband from Glasgow, Scotland in 1983.
Her main interests are reading, walking and writing.
She reviews the films shown at the ESRA Cinema Club, as well as writes articles of interest to ESRA members. She has written a storybook for children around 6-7 years, purely bedtime reading aloud stories which has yet to be published.
She is retired, lives in Raanana, is the grandmother of six grandchildren.

Sara Groundland muses about a time when Jews, living in Eastern Europe, were constantly harassed by Tsarist decrees to leave their shtetls or were driven out by pogroms perpetrated by the local villagers at the behest of the rulers of the time. Today she thanks God that we have our own country and Jews no longer have to worry about being uprooted ever again.

It's strange how one feels they know their own city,

but when seen through someone else's eyes, amazingly, it's quite different. Sara Groundland describes a guided walking tour through Jerusalem. Their group discovered parks and alleys unknown to them and enjoyed several hours of wandering and wondering, listening to their learned guide's recounting of historical events and amusing anecdotes. They had an interesting time and learnt many things about their beautiful city.

I Learned to Love
to a packed auditorium in Yad Lebanim in Raanana. This heartbreaking story of two Polish toddlers sent to the Cracow Ghetto with their family after the Nazis invaded Poland stunned the audience into silence. After a horrific journey they finally ended up in Israel. The older brother Itzik, wrote the book on which this film is based.
