Eadie came to Israel from Galsgow, Scotland, and was one of the original members of the ESRA Knitting Club. Her speciality was knitting lovely scarves and hats for children as well as helping with all the other tasks that go with making a succesful group. Eadie retired to a home some years ago and was still knitting with wool brought to her by friends of the club. She continued to contribute. Eadie did not like "idle hands" and even late into her nineties she was knitting for some of the residents with whom she shared her life. Even for one of her granddaughters she took a fancy to, she made a scarf and hat.

I first met Eadie many years ago as one of the "three musketeers of Ahuza".  Her daughter and I were in the girl guides together a long time ago, and the other musketeers were also from "back then". Their laughter and "patter" were an authentic piece of Glasgow enjoyed by me regularly coming and going on Ahuza.

Eadie is as beautiful a 100 year old lady outside as in; an unselfish, independent, "no nonsense" lady with a very positive attitude.  She's a smart looking lady too, who likes to help those around her as much as she's able.

Eadie is the center of our permanent Monday morning coffee group at Bonjour, along with three friends.  Sometimes as many as eight others, who love and care about her too, join in.  Many more stop and want to know how she's doing. Eadie is always "fine".

In a biography of another Scot, J.M. Barrie, who wrote Peter Pan, there was a translation of the Scottish word “fine”: anything ranging from "I have a wee skelf (splinter) in my finger" to "I'm ha' deed" (half-dead).

Eadies's son came from Australia with his family to celebrate with her, and celebrate they did! A whole week of partying with her daughter and family from Lachish as well.

Eadie, who didn't want a fuss, just smiled and smiled and let herself be loved by her family and friends.    A wonderful time was had by all and Eadie discovered that being 100 "wisnee so bad after aw."

The following Monday at Bonjour she looked younger than ever. What stamina from such a frail-looking, beautiful lady.  I want to be just like her and look forward to many meetings with her in the future.
