The piano recital of Gil Shohat in support of the Hand-in-Hand Food Pantry in Netanya was a glorious event. The Sharon Hotel in Herzliya Pituach was an elegant backdrop to the beautifully dressed audience, the delicious buffet supper and the marvelous star of the evening.

Gil Shohat gave us his time and talent in the middle of a very busy schedule. He charmed the music-loving audience of 185 people with his interesting explanations and wonderful sense of humor. His rendition of the three most famous Beethoven sonatas, Pathetique, Moonlight and Waldstein was superb. In addition, he won over the hearts of all when he said that he was willing to perform again so long as there existed a hungry child in Israel.

We sincerely thank Nelly Perry who invited Gil Shohat to appear in this worthy event. She has known him personally since he was a budding young musician when she recognized his outstanding talent and she continues to follow him faithfully. Four years ago Nelly made aliyah from London where she had gained vast experience in leading charitable organizations in England.

We also thank Sir Bernard and Lady Schreier, the owners of the Sharon Hotel and Garry Comyns, manager of the hotel for their outstanding generosity. The Hotel provided a most enjoyable reception with wine and food beautifully laid out in a very charming room.

Raffle prizes for the event were donated by the Sharon Hotel and Alex Harouni of Dalton Wines.

Rika Meyerowitz was Master of Ceremonies and Shifra Davies spoke about the work of the Hand-in-Hand Food Pantry.

We thank each of you for your wonderful contribution to a glorious evening.
