“Discover Tel Aviv” Center is an interactive multimedia system describing the development of Tel Aviv since its founding – with models of the city and buildings, maps, and an exhibition of Akiva Arieh Weiss – one of the founders of Tel Aviv, photographs of significant personalities and buildings in the 1920s and 1930s, cafes of Tel Aviv 1920-1980, the city in posters 1900-1935, films. At the Shalom Mayer Tower, Mondays-Thursday 08:00-18:00, Fridays 08:00-14:00.

It facilitates the local settling of new immigrants and encourages them to contribute to Israeli society, it aids integration amongst the various immigrant groups, and provides the international community with a sense of welcome.

 

The Blue Route follows the coastline – from the Jaffa ridge in the south to the Tel Aviv port in the north – and includes important sites, places of historic significance and landmarks that have formed the social, cultural and Mediterranean heritage of the city’s residents. ARTLV Throughout the City: Tel Aviv’s International Art Biennale, starting September 9, is the centennial year's main artistic event, with dozens of art shows, exhibits and installations featuring both foreign and Israeli artists. Hopefully it will become part of a "Mediterranean" art scene, together with the art biennales of Istanbul and Athens.

 

Flower Carpet: Rabin Square: Rosh Hashana 5770 will be ushered in by a huge carpet of flowers, decorating Rabin Square and heralding the advent of autumn in the centennial year. The floral tapestry will extend over a large area and embody a hidden message that will be revealed when it is set in place.  This spectacular event promises to be a cultural, artistic and aesthetic experience, promoting nature conservation and environmental protection.

 

Centennial Bicycle Ride Through the City: Tel Aviv encourages the use of bicycles instead of motor vehicles. As part of the bike-friendly campaign, the city will complete the creation of 100 kilometers of bicycle routes for its 100th birthday. To celebrate these routes, a citywide bicycle ride will take place on Saturday, October 17. 

 

The White Route passes through the heart of the White City, in the area recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage site in 2003. The route reveals important stages in the city’s history and provides information on significant architectural sites in the city. Information: 054 400 4414.
