Every Wednesday morning is a delight as a group of us get together to study Bible or Talmud. We come from varying levels of experience, backgrounds and perspectives, but we are united in our desire and curiosity to become more familiar with seminal Jewish texts first-hand. For several years we have met in an open, serious and non-threatening atmosphere, alternating weeks between Bible (Tanach) and Talmud (Pirkei Avot - Ethics of the Fathers).

Our guide in these discussions is Rabbi Avraham Fischer, whose insights and methods make these subjects fascinating. He translates the texts whilst also presenting additional material based upon historical background and commentaries from medieval scholars such as Rashi, Rambam and Ramban to present-day scholars such as Rabbi Moshe Feinstein and Rabbi Kook, all presented with a sense of humor. Rabbi Fischer also responds patiently and respectfully to our many questions that arise about Judaism. It is from our contact with these sources that we gain an understanding of Jewish faith, ethics and mores.
The Bible classes are hosted by Noah Margalit in the Hadar Yosef section of Tel Aviv, while the Talmud classes are hosted by Barbara Resnick in the center of Tel Aviv.
We would love to have more people join us.
